ABOUT THE COLLEGE

The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) is the oldest and largest organization in the US dedicated to advancing a scientific approach to substance use and addictive disorders. We actively promote basic scientific research in all aspects of substance abuse, and we facilitate the sharing of knowledge and new discoveries among scientists of diverse backgrounds, both nationally and internationally.

DRUG POLICY STATEMENTS

A key part of CPDD’s mission is to provide both policymakers and the media with accurate, science-based position statements on matters of drug policy. Insofar as the common goal of all drug policy is to reduce harm and relieve suffering, we believe that the science often speaks for itself, and when presented in a balanced and nuanced manner, can help point the way to effective and reasonable public policy and advocacy initiatives.
